How do you choose the right silk pillowcase?
Start with the momme weight, which measures the density and durability of silk fabric. A 19-momme pillowcase is suitable for everyday use, while 22–25 momme offers a more luxurious feel and longer lifespan. Anything below 16 momme will feel thin and wear out quickly. Next, confirm the silk type — Grade 6A mulberry silk is the highest quality, with long, uniform fibers that produce the smoothest surface.
Check for certifications such as OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which verifies the absence of harmful substances, and look for brands that disclose their full supply chain. Be cautious of pillowcases labeled simply "silk" without specifying momme weight or silk grade, as these are often blended with polyester or use lower-quality tussah silk.
ONDU makes this process easier by only featuring silk pillowcases that meet strict standards for fiber purity, momme weight, and third-party certification.
