Are bamboo sheets actually good?
Bamboo sheets can be excellent, but quality varies enormously depending on how the bamboo is processed. Bamboo lyocell (sometimes branded as Tencel) uses a closed-loop chemical process that is environmentally responsible and produces a silky, durable fabric. Bamboo viscose and rayon, on the other hand, use harsher chemicals in an open-loop process that can leave residual solvents in the finished fabric and cause more environmental harm.
When made well, bamboo sheets are naturally antibacterial, moisture-wicking, and incredibly soft. They tend to stay cool to the touch and are a good choice for hot sleepers or people with sensitive skin. However, they may pill faster than high-quality cotton if not cared for according to the manufacturer's instructions.
ONDU recommends looking for bamboo lyocell specifically and checking for OEKO-TEX or similar certifications to ensure you are getting a clean, responsibly made product.
